Sport Events based on Sport Tourism can be developed, improved

KUCHING: Sport events that are based on Sports Tourism has a bright future in the country, Chief Minister Pehin Sri Hj Abdul Taib Mahmud said on Tuesday.His text of speech was read by Datuk Amar Alfred Jabu in the official opening of the 2nd Borneo Games at the Stadium Prepaduan Negeri.“Any sports can be developed and improved so that one day it will be at a competent level with other prestigious sports,” he added.

According to Taib, Sarawak has what it takes to produce sports tourism with the vast land, panoramic views of the beaches, green forests, clean rivers, hills and mountains that captures the attention and inspires development of various sports that are based on nature, which includes extreme or recreational sports.Through wide promotion and publicity, especially overseas, I believe that the sport will be able to bring in more participation from sports enthusiast to Sarawak and other parts of Borneo that has its own natural attraction,” said Jabu.

The Sarawak Regatta has got to be promoted into an international level event, the mindset and commitment level has got to lift up a few notches, Every thing is in place but as some one put it, "You've got to have a business plan".
A full-time event team to look after it for at least 9 months which it very short but have to start somewhere...
