Crocs and PDRM begin showdown

KUCHING: The Super League 2007/2008 season match between the Crocs and PDRM will be heating up this Sunday at Sarawak Stadium. “It would not be a family affair match but more like a revenge match between the State players and PDRM,” FAS President Hj. Khaider Hj. Zaidell told reporters at the Masja building during the FAS meeting with the Ministry of Sosial and Urbanisation Dato’ Sri William Mawan Ikom, yesterday.Khaider said the Super League match which hopes to draw more public attention could at least win the hearts of local football fans. The PDRM team, who are sponsored by Captain Gulzar, a former strong influence in the Crocs team, will be against the latter in this season opener.“We hope members of the public would come and watch this highly anticipated match between two strong teams and give their support,” said Khaider, adding that Sarawak now have two players who are import players - a midfielder who is a Japanese player, Sasa Yusuke and Jose Luiz from Brazil as striker - to bring more attraction to the home crowd.Sarawak are in need of more imported players in order to strengthen their defence. With such imported players Sarawak are expected to be more prepared to face the challenge this coming season. The first match for the season this Sunday will be a test on their performance in the eyes of the football fans.
