Crime Busters

Major towns identified as crime-prone areas
By Roger Francis, ET

KUCHING: Four major towns, Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Bintulu have been identified as crime prone areas which contributed to the increase in crime index rate in the State this year compared to last year, Inspector General of Police (IGP) told reporters after attending a police parade and closed-door briefing at Badarudin Police Headquarters here yesterday.“Athough the crime index rate has increased, the overall crime situation is still under control.“Motorcycle theft and house- breaking cases contributed the most to the number of property crime in the state especially in the major towns,” he said.Musa said as long as police concentrated on these four towns, the crime rate would definitely go down because other districts recorded low crime rates.
