How sad...

I had put in some readings about the Sarawak Rangers, then i stumble into this... well done to Cokelatrawkz for putting it into her blog. Sad to see things like this. He should be given a better place to rest.

PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!
I was surfing the Forum Cari's Sarawak board when I found one of the topics begging for the family of the late Lance Corporal Ungkok Anak Jugam who died on 13 February 1955 to do something in order to honor the hero. I can't tell more, just see the pictures and if you happen to know his family, please take action.

Location: Jalan Langgar, Alor Star, Kedah
He was one of the Sarawak Rangers (most of them were the brave Ibans) who served the country, specifically in West Malaysia back in the 50's. Sarawak Government should have taken action, regardless what medium they able to consider. This hero should be respected; at least there's a small monument built there if a mouseleum is too grand. For Sarawakians, if you happen to understand local dialect you can read the entry here.

Wayne,

Is that grave by the roadside or in a proper graveyard?

I wonder whether we can find out all the graves of the Iban Trackers/Sarawak Rangers who were buried in Semenanjung?

Would be interesting to find out.

Wayne,

I want to highlight this case in the NST to open the eyes of the Federal, State Government as well as the Army.

Just a doubt - is that a grave or just a historical marker because at the bottom of the headstone it says:

"Lies somewhere here"

I agree with you, it may be a marker but then again who maintains it. Looks like someone is worshipping it
