New copters for company

2007/12/05 (NST)

HORNBILL Skyways Sdn Bhd took delivery of its third EC135 P2 helicopter from Eurocopter Malaysia Sdn Bhd yesterday.

Hornbill Skyways executive chairman Aidan Wing said the helicopters were part of an upgrading programme.

"Safety is our main priority. That is why we want the new helicopters (to replace the current Bell 206 Jet Rangers)," he said after receiving the helicopter from Eurocopter Malaysia president and chief executive officer Pierre Nardelli at Lima '07.

Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd is Sarawak's largest aircraft operator.

He said there was a dire need to serve and strengthen rural air services in areas like Miri, Mulu, Kota Kinabalu, Bintulu, the Limbang division and the interiors of Sarawak.

Wing said the company was happy with the helicopters and had ordered another unit which would be delivered next August.
